Gentle Beginners: Open to all. Very suitable for pre and post-natal, the stiffer body and those with injuries
and ailments for whom the usual Beginners' class would not be appropriate.
Beginners: Introductory
classes for complete beginners and those with some experience. These ongoing classes introduce a core set of fundamental
poses. Students become familiar with this beginners syllabus through regular attendance.
Level 1-2: These
daytime classes are suitable for beginners and those with more experience.
Level 2: For students who have
a solid grasp of the Beginners syllabus and are ready to progress in their practice. At this level shoulder stand is regularly practised
and headstand is introduced. Students are also introduced to the basics of pranayama (yogic breathing practices).
Level 3:
For more advanced students who have a solid grounding in Iyengar Yoga and who have a regular and consistent practice.
Level
4: For long term practitioners of Iyengar Yoga with a committed and established daily yoga practice, attending at
least 1 weekly class at Level 3 at the Newtown Yoga Room. Also open to certified Iyengar Yoga teachers and teachers in training.
Individual
Needs: A small specialised class working closely with a teacher on your individual issues.
Intensives:
There will be several early morning intensives throughout the year. These will be advertised at the school, or go to the Retreats
and Workshops page for further information. Bookings essential.
