Beginners Yoga

Whilst we have taught many beginners yoga courses in the past, we prefer a structured program which is based on a core of foundational poses. These foundational poses are broadly categorised into 5 groups:

  • standing poses

  • forward bends, twists

  • backbends

  • restorative poses and breathing practices

  • miscellaneous

These five categories form the basis of our structured 5 week repeating cycle which continues throughout the year.

 

The advantages of this structured approach for you are-

 

  • you can start anytime, you don't have to wait for the beginning of a course to join.

  • Attendance is flexible: you can attend as often as you wish, and you may also attend single classes if you are unable to attend every week.

  • you can repeat the 5 week cycle as often as you like, each time becoming more familiar with the practice, adding a little more depth and understanding. 

  • Whilst we teach to our beginners syllabus, we will adjust and adapt poses to suit your body, needs, and abilities when necessary. When something is not appropriate for you, we will give you an alternative pose. Overtime you will learn how to work with your body with confidence and understanding.

Beginners Class Times

  • Friday evening 6 - 7.15 pm 

  • Saturday morning 8.45 -10 am 

  • Tuesday 7.40 pm This is a new class starting June 22

We also run a gentle beginners class suitable for pre and post natal, the stiffer body, or those wanting a gentler class.

 

  • Tuesdays 9.30-11 am. Gentle beginners class

The following classes, whilst not at the complete beginner level, are great if you enjoy a bit of a challenge.

You’ll soon pick up the basics.

  • Monday and Wednesday 6-7.30 pm Beginners/Level one.
